What is the difference between a merchant account and payment gateway?
A merchant account is setup for a business to accept and process credit card transactions. The money transferred through the merchant account is deposited into the business's checking account within 2 to 3 business days. The payment gateway is the software that is used to submit the transactions to the merchant account for processing.
What are the requirements for a merchant account?
